Action on Pre-eclampsia
The opportunity
Action on Pre-eclampsia (APEC)is a small but active national charity supporting women with pre-eclampsia. 30,000 women per year in the UK suffer this terrible condition which threatens the lives of both mother and baby.
APEC provides services of a patient helpline, midwife training days, information leaflets for hospitals and ante natal clinics and campaigns on relevant issues.
Following retirements, APEC is looking for enthusiastic, influential new trustees. They must obviously be sympathetic to the cause, but more importantly have organisational, business, finance or charity experience to strategically drive the charity forward. In supporting the other trustees and the CEO they need to be critical thinkers, clear decision-makers and co-operative team-players on a wide range of both broad and detailed issues. Prior experience of pregnancy-related issues is not necessary. The Trustee meeting are 4 times a year, always in London. Plus, a strategy day is planned for 2009. Regular email communications are crucial to the board's functioning, so fluency on computers for this is very important.
