ACIE (Association of Charity Independent Examiners)

Launched in 1999, ACIE is an association for people who carry out the independent examination (IE) of charity accounts. IE is essentially a lower cost alternative to audit for eligible charities, with eligibility depending upon a number of factors, including:  income, assets, geography, year end dates, governing documents, and funders requirements.

ACIE supports independent examiners by keeping them up to date with changing legislation, running training courses and national conferences, and offering guidance and resources. ACIE can also offer a professional qualification to those members who can meet the necessary criteria.

ACIE has also become a national voice in influencing policies with regard to government legislation, and has the support of the Charity Commission and OSCR in its aim of promoting excellence in IE.
