Charity Trustee Networks (CTN) and the Nationwide Foundation have formed a partnership to provide governance support to the boards of eight charities funded by the Foundation.
CTN which promotes the efficiency and effectiveness of charities by improving their governance will provide support to the trustees and chairs of the charities. The trustees are being invited to join trusteenet a free on-line resource, including peer networking opportunities, monthly e-newsletters and trustee related information and resources and the chairs are being invited to join trusteenetplus, a benefits package, which includes individual safety-net Trustee Indemnity Insurance, subscription to governance magazine and free and discounted entry to CTN events. These will be funded for them through the partnership.
The partnership will help to achieve the Nationwide Foundation’s strategic aim to build the resilience of the charities it funds. The Foundation will also provide the charities with trustee training, facilitated strategic review meetings and bespoke consultancy as needed. This is to help build the robustness and infrastructures of the charities funded and to achieve impacts which are greater than those which would be achieved with just a grant.
Lisa Parker, chief executive of The Nationwide Foundation, “The Nationwide Foundation welcomes this partnership as an opportunity to invest in charities, over and above providing core and project funding, to ensure they have an effective boards of trustees and good governance structures in place. The Nationwide Foundation wants the charities it supports to be in a strong position to continue their good work once funding has ceased.”
Rodney Buse, chairman of Charity Trustee Networks, “CTN is delighted to be working with The Nationwide Foundation. Trustees have a high level of responsibility and must also keep themselves fully informed about the work and running of their charities. We recognise the effort needed to give this level of commitment and aim to provide support to ensure trustees work efficiently and effectively.”
