Charities Act 2006 - Regional Events

The Office of the Third Sector and the Charity Commission are jointly running a series of free regional events to raise awareness of the Charities Act 2006 and its implementation.

BoardsCount - a new benchmarking initiative

BoardsCount is a new benchmarking initiative focused specifically on governance in the UK Voluntary and Community sector. The benefit for participating organisations is that they will get a clear picture of how the governance practices in their organisation compare with those in other third sector organisations.  Participating in the service will also help charities assess how far their organisation complies with the new Code of Governance.

Charity begins with public benefit - launch of public debate

Every charity must show it is for the public benefit, the Charity Commission announces today as it publishes a consultation on the priciples of public benefit.


Call to find Charity Champion

The Beacon Fellowship Charitable Trust is calling for nominations for the 2007 Beacon Prize. Together with the Government's Cabinet Office, UBS Wealth Management and the Vodafone UK Foundation, the charity is urging the public to nominate individuals who have made a significant charitable contribution in giving time, money or skills to a specific cause.
