CTN's response to consultation on how charities report their public benefit

CTN has submitted a response to the Office of the Third Sector on their consultation regarding how charities report their public benefit.

In summary, CTN has stated that -

  • We believe charities should be able to demonstrate publicly that they are providing a benefit to the public. However, the method of doing this should not be onerous or formulaic.
  • We believe that the Annual Report is a suitable vehicle for reporting public benefit. However, there must be clarity about what exactly is required and whether it is a legal requirement or best practice.
  • Clear support should be provided to trustees to enable them to comply with the proposed reporting requirements.
