In early November, the Charities Bill received royal assent and takes its place on the statute book as the Charities Act 2006.

Charity Commission Direct is the new single point of contact for all enquiries and requests for services coming into the Charity Commission. It was launched earlier this year and aims to ensure enquiries are fast tracked to the right place first time and to deal with priority requests more quickly. The Governance Hub will be launching its Get on Board campaign in January 2007, in partnership with the Charity Commission and Volunteering England. The campaign aims to raise the profile of trusteeship and to encourage more people to consider becoming a trustee.
