Tendring Trustee Network

Location(s)

United Kingdom

The network was launched in October 2009 by CVS Tendring and is aimed at bringing trustees, committee members and boards of Tendring based organisations together to enhance and strengthen their organisations by sharing information and good practice, access to master-classes from professionals for free, learning from each other’s experiences and ultimately, to network. CVS Tending has been successful in securing a grant for the network for the next 3 years from The Thriving 3rd Sector Fund which is managed by Essex Community Foundation. This will enable trustees to have regular networking meetings, guest speakers, masterclasses and training opportunities at no cost.  The Network is also open to individuals who are interested in becoming a trustee/committee member as it can offer peer support, training and other opportunities.

So far they have had presentations on:-

  • CRB and ISA procedures – David Ennifer
  • Trustee Board roles, 7 Principles of Public Life and Skills Audit – Karen Tedder-Ward
  • New legislation that will affect trustees who are employers of staff - Roger Cooper FPMI, ACII
  • Roles and Responsibilities of boards – Sandy Adirondack Employment Law – Lara Kennedy

Members will be offered the opportunity to take part in a series of master-classes, training and networking opportunities. The network will also provide opportunities to learn and develop skills, gain accreditation, share experiences and good practice, raise concerns and discuss topical issues. This will increase the standard/quality of organisations and strengthen their infrastructure. Presentations will be delivered to companies and businesses promoting the benefits of trusteeship to managers and employees coming up to retirement.

CVS Tendring will provide an annual programme comprising of:

  • 3 networking events with high calibre guest speakers
  • 3 Master-classes in identified subjects with networking opportunities
  • 1 day accredited ‘Trustee Essentials’ training
  • Resources available to loan to trustees e.g. books and DVDs
  • Governance Training
  • Bespoke one to one skills support as appropriate
  • Trustees ‘members only area’
