what information is a trustee entitled to

hello

can you help and tell me what information is entitled to , we have one who wants a copy of every single piece of documentation that has ever been produced including bank statements and every e-mail that has ever been sent. i feel that this is an excessive request and feel very uneasy about one person having this much information.

any advice would be gratefully accepted

How tiresome! I am not sure that an incoming trustee needs to see all the everyday bits and pieces - for which the team in office have full responsibility. The new trustee is not expected to conduct a governance audit. All the new trustee needs is the material to do the job properly which will include understanding the present state of play on ongoing issues - eg governing instrument, accounts for the last couple of years, key policies, Vision and Values statement, plus minutes of meetings over the last year or so. Probably the best way forward is for the Chair to meet the new trustee to have an induction chat and hand over the material that looks relevant with any background which would aid understanding, and encourage the new recruiot to have a chat with the Treasurer.
