I would be interested to hear the experiences and views of other trustees whose charities are affected by commissioning. One of our statutory funders has delayed its commissioning of children's services several times. Each time it has given the charity an extension to the length of our grant of 3 or 6 months. This makes forward planning very difficult. For example we only have 6 months' income from them confirmed for next year's budget. We are also concerned about the amount of effort that will be involved in tendering for work.
