Small Charities Coalition
This course by Blake Lapthorn, charity lawyer services and is aimed at getting new trustees up to speed in understanding their role, whilst also providing a useful refresher for existing trustees.
Charities are expected to report on their efforts to ensure that all trustees are trained and inducted to fulfill their role. The half day course is designed to assist your charity in complying with best practice to induct and refresh trustees, so that they can make a full contribution as a trustee of your charity.

9.30am: - Registration and Coffee
10.00am: - Introduction
- Understanding your governing documents - trustees will be asked to bring along governing documents and this will be an interactive session identifying the key elements of the governing document, assisting the trustees to identify the extent of their powers and understand the structure of their organization.
- The duties of trustees - a practical review of governance responsibilities and personal liability.
11.30am: - Coffee Break
- Running the charity - considering the hallmarks of an effective charity. Looking at practical issues such as procedures at trustee meetings, managing relationships with staff and beneficiaries
- Charity finance -a basic introduction to the sources of income for charities, understanding financial reports and investment policies
1.00pm: - Lunch
Cost : The half-day training course costs £100 + VAT per delegate. A discount of 25% will be offered for organisations that register more than five delegates.
The price includes a buffet lunch, refreshments and a presentation folder of course materials.
