BoardsCount TM

BoardsCount™ is a service specifically designed to help third sector organisations know whether they are doing a good job and to compare the detailed practices of their boards and committees in a confidential way. Organisations can also assess how their board feels about current issues, and whether their views are typical of other similar trustee boards.

Using BoardsCount™ leads to a number of other benefits:

  • It give you reassurance about what's working well
  • It gives you the data so you can ask informed questions about what you may be finding hard
  • It helps you determine the board's future priorities
  • It helps you position your board to be more effective for the future
  • It helps you assess how well you are doing against the Code of Governance

Designed by senior figures from the sector including chairs, senior staff and board members, the service will run from late summer and report in early 2009.

BoardsCount™ gathers information from a range of people at a charity on 12 key subjects. This is used to provide three reports -

The Sector Overview Report that comprises a commentary and detailed information about the range of performance on each topic in relation to all participants. This report will also give advice on how to make the best use of the reports for your board.

The Statistics Report with all the numbers on a CD-Rom, provided.

The individual Scorecard Report: An individually tailored report that highlights the performance of each organisation against other organisations taking part (confidentially). This report also includes guidance on how to use the information provided.
