Closed - Consultation on The Empowerment Fund

This consultation paper seeks views on a draft of the Empowerment Fund Prospectus which the Government intends to issue. This Fund is being developed by the Government following the launch of the Communities and Local Government’s White Paper Communities in Control: real people, real power on 9 July 2008.

This fund will provide support for existing national third sector organisations operating across England to help local communities turn key proposals into practical action on the ground. It has been established against the background of the Government’s aim to pass power into the hands of local communities, to generate vibrant local democracy in every part of the country, and to give real control over local decisions and services to a wider pool of active citizens.

Trustees can respond to the consultation in two ways –
• By sending your comments to CTN, who will then either pass them on or integrate them in CTN’s own response to the consultation. Send your comments to info@trusteenet.org.uk and mark the email ‘Consultation on Empowerment Fund’. The deadline for this is 21 September.
• Send your comments directly to the Communities and Government Third Sector Team. You can find out how to do this at http://www.communities.gov.uk/publications/communities/empowermentfund   The deadline for this is 30 September.
